2007 ALL STAR PROGRAMS
IN-PARK ALL STARS and CAL RIPKEN/BABE RUTH TOURNAMENT TEAMS
Each Spring season, Ocee Park sponsors 2 all-star programs: one is a single
day In-Park All Star program that features an all star game for each league except for Tee Ball and
the other is the Out of Park All Star program commonly referred to as the Summer Tournament Teams. Each of
these programs has a different criteria for player and manager selection. While the In-Park All Star
program is a single day event held entirely at Ocee Park at the end of the regular season, the
Tournament Team program begins in May and culminates with play at the district, state, region, or
World Series level based on team performance in July or August. Ocee Park completed its first season
of Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth baseball and softball in 2007 and participated in the summer tournament trail.
Baseball and softball teams of different age groups participated in different Southeast Regional
tournaments and the 15U Seniors baseball team participated in the state championship held in Columbus, GA,
in July. Read below for more information on each of the 2007 tournament teams.

BABE RUTH TOURNAMENT TEAMS - LATE JULY
Ocee Park is completing its first season as an affiliate of the Babe Ruth League
program. This summer, our program is eligible to enter tournament teams in the following age groups for
baseball: 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U (60/46), 12U (70/50), and 13-15U. In softball, our program will enter
tournament teams in the following age groups: 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. This year, due to the limited
number of Babe Ruth programs in our area, most of our teams will advance directly to the Southeast
Regional tournaments for Babe Ruth. In prior years, our tournament teams competed at the District
level for the right to move to the State and Southern Regional tournaments. Despite having some excellent
tournament teams, no Ocee Park team has ever advanced to a State tournament except in softball where
our teams were the only entrants from our District. Since our tournament teams will be moving directly
to the Southeast Regional tournament, the tournaments will start much later than usual (very late July)
and will incur a significant cost and time commitment due to the travel involved. Please bear this in
mind if and when you are asked about making a commitment to a tournament team. In some cases, Ocee Park
may not field a team in a certain age group if sufficient players are not available. The process of selecting
teams will depend on the age group. Player voting will be used for 10U and up in baseball and for 12U and
up in softball. Manager nominations will be used for younger leagues. Age group teams that draw players
from multiple leagues will have tryouts among nominated players. An example is the 10U baseball team which will
draw players from the AAA, Major American, and Major National leagues. Teams that draw players from a
single league will not use tryouts and will instead use player voting. Team managers will be selected
after the voting process or the tryout process to avoid naming a manager of a team prior to the son or
daughter of that manager being selected to a team. Team managers will be given some flexibility in
completing their team roster to complement the voting and/or tryout process but team managers will not
be permitted to name their own child to the team. Detailed information regarding the selection process
for the different age groups in baseball and softball will be available later. More information on the
schedule for the Babe Ruth Southeast Regional tournaments can be found using the following link:

IN-PARK ALL STARS - May 19th (Saturday)
The Ocee Park Spring 2007 In-Park All Star Day is scheduled for Saturday,
May 19th except for Senior Softball which be played on Friday, May 18th (due to a tournament for
that age group on the 19th). With the exception of Tee Ball, every baseball and softball league
has an In-Park All Star team. Selections to the team are determined by player voting in the older
leagues and by manager and/or parent/player voting in the younger leagues. Players selected to the
In-Park All Star game are grouped by regular season teams based on the final league standings (or
by the League Commissioner for leagues that do not keep standings) to form the Black and Orange
squads. Prior to each group of games, players are announced on Field #2 and time is allotted for
pictures. In-Park All Star is always a great day of baseball and softball and is the perfect the
way to end the Regular Season. More information on the format and schedule for In-Park All Star
Day can be found using the following link:
