Each Spring and Fall season, OPAA offers its families a way to register to receive SMS text message alerts from us for important events such as:
SUMOTEXT mobile text system is the fastest and most reliable way to get notified of Ocee Park weather closures. The web site will also be updated but not as quickly as the Sumotext. IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP PRIOR TO 8/29/10, YOU WILL NEED TO SIGN UP AGAIN. We clear out the distribution list at the beginning of each season to avoid extra messaging charges. We expect to use the service only when a significant need arises and only when the communication of the information through normal channels is either not feasible or the time sensitive nature and the importance of the information makes it sensible to also broadcast via text message. How to Register for the Service
T-Mobile Customers will receive a text message asking you to opt-in or confirm your registration for text messages from us. All other customers will be registered once you have sent the keyword OPAA to 79704. Families may also register for the text message service directly on the Internet using a link on our web site or by browsing directly to: http://www.moptin.com/?OPAA How Does it Work? When we have an important message to send to OPAA families, we create the message and then broadcast the message through the Sumotext service which in turn sends the SMS text messages to the mobile numbers of all persons that registered their mobile number using the OPAA keyword. Most if not all mobile phone carriers charge customers for incoming text messages so be sure to check the details of your mobile phone plan to see what charges you will incur for any OPAA initiated text messages. How Do I Cancel the Service?Simple – each message sent from us will include a “Reply STOP to Cancel” at the end of the message. By following the cancel instructions, you may de-register your mobile phone at any time and you will no longer receive messages from us. Also, all mobile numbers are automatically de-registered from the service at the end of each Spring and Fall season. What About the Web Site? The web site will remain an active means of communication but there may be times where the web site updates lag the SMS text message broadcast because the text message solution is faster and easier for OPAA to officials to use (broadcasts can be easily generated from a mobile phone while at the park). The weather hotline was discontinued at the end of the Spring 2008 season. |
