Executive Director

Youth Baseball Organization • Full Time • Reports to Board of Directors

Position Overview

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive leader of the organization, responsible for advancing its mission to provide high-quality, safe, and inclusive youth baseball programming. The ED oversees strategic planning, operational management, financial health, staff leadership, community relationships, and program excellence. This role works closely with community partners, volunteers, and families to ensure that all youth have access to meaningful sports experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Provide vision, direction, and leadership to advance the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans in partnership with the Board of Directors.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, teamwork, safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify new opportunities for growth and innovation in youth sports.

2. Program Management

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all baseball programs, leagues, and special events.
  • Ensure programs meet standards for safety, quality coaching, athlete development, and positive youth experiences.
  • Manage scheduling, facility usage, equipment purchasing, and compliance with governing bodies.
  • Coordinate partnerships with vendors used throughout the baseball season (concessions, field management, etc.).
  • Track program outcomes, participation data, and quality metrics.

3. Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the annual budget; ensure strong fiscal health and responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, and financial reporting to the Board.
  • Lead revenue-generation efforts, including sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, grants, and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with fiscal policies, nonprofit best practices, and legal requirements.

4. Staff & Volunteer Management

  • Provide leadership and support for coaches, officials, trainers, and volunteers.
  • Build a collaborative, mission-driven organizational culture.

5. Communications & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the public face of the organization and primary spokesperson.
  • Build strong relationships with families, schools, community partners, local government, and sponsors.
  • Lead marketing, outreach, and communication efforts, including social media and public relations.
  • Resolve concerns or issues with participants, parents, or partners professionally and promptly.

6. Governance & Board Relations

  • Work closely with the Board to ensure effective governance and mission alignment.
  • Provide timely updates, reports, and recommendations to the Board.
  • Support Board committees and assist in recruiting and developing Board members.
  • Ensure organizational policies, bylaws, and legal requirements are followed.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in youth sports, recreation, education, or nonprofit management.
  • Management: Proven success in staff management, program oversight, and financial administration.
  • Strategy: Strong strategic planning and organizational leadership skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of youth development principles and safe sports practices.
  • Availability: Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed during program seasons.
  • Commitment: Dedication to inclusion, safety, and positive youth development.
